How to Receive and Activate Your Bank Zero Debit Card

After your Bank Zero account is approved, your personalised Mastercard debit card is ordered and shipped to the delivery option you selected during registration. The card is physically personalised — it includes your chosen photo or image on the card face, and your PIN is manufactured directly into the chip, meaning no "activation PIN envelope" is involved.

Delivery is handled by a third-party courier. Bank Zero confirms the courier partner when you place your card order in the app.

How to Order Your Card (Step-by-Step)

Step 1 — Open the Bank Zero App Log in and navigate to your account screen.

Step 2 — Go to the Card Section Tap the account tile menu (three dots in the bottom-right corner of the relevant account tile), then select "Card".

Step 3 — Choose Card Personalisation Select your personalised image for the card face — this can be a photo of a pet, a favourite place, or any image from your phone gallery. The image is printed onto the card at the manufacturing stage.

Step 4 — Select Delivery Option Choose between collection at a Clicks store (select your nearest participating Clicks outlet) or delivery to your registered home or business address.

Step 5 — Confirm and Pay the Delivery Fee The delivery fee is charged from your Bank Zero account balance. Confirm the order.

Step 6 — Track Delivery Bank Zero will notify you via the app once your card has been dispatched. Track delivery progress via the courier tracking number provided in the app.

How to Activate Your Card When It Arrives

Once you receive your physical card, you must activate it before use:

  1. Open the Bank Zero app.
  2. Navigate to the account tile menu (three dots, bottom-right of the account).
  3. Tap "Card", then tap "Activate Card".
  4. Follow the on-screen confirmation steps.

Important: A card that has been received but not activated will eventually incur a nuisance fee. Activate your card as soon as it arrives to avoid this charge.

Adding Your Card to Apple Pay

Bank Zero supports Apple Pay for contactless payments. To add your card to Apple Pay:

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the "+" (Add Card) button.
  3. Scan or enter your Bank Zero card details.
  4. Complete the authorisation step as prompted (you may be asked to confirm via the Bank Zero app).
  5. Your card is ready for Apple Pay contactless payments immediately after addition.

What to Do If Your Card Doesn't Arrive

If your card has not arrived within the expected delivery window:

  • Check the tracking number in the Bank Zero app for courier status.
  • Contact the courier directly with the tracking number.
  • If the courier cannot resolve the issue, email Bank Zero at info@bankzero.co.za with your account details and courier tracking number, and the team will investigate and, if necessary, re-order your card.

Lost or Stolen Card

If your card is lost or stolen before or after activation:

  • Open the Bank Zero app immediately.
  • Navigate to the Card section and freeze or cancel your card — this can be done 24/7 from the app within seconds.
  • Order a replacement card through the app (replacement card fee applies).
