Cost-of-credit example
For an illustrative R5 000 loan over 90 days at the mid-range interest band:
- Capital: R5 000
- Interest (illustrative mid-band) ≈ R750 over 90 days
- Initiation fee = R165 + 10% × (R5 000 − R1 000) = R565
- Service fee 3 × R69 = R207
- Credit life insurance (optional) ≈ R30
- Total cost of credit ≈ R1 552
- Total repayable ≈ R6 552
- Approximate monthly instalment over 3 instalments ≈ R2 184
Risk warning. This is illustrative; actual cost depends on your affordability profile. Credit at the upper interest band is expensive — review your pre-agreement quotation carefully before signing. Borrow only what you can repay on time.
